Top 5 Adult Games to Play the Next Time You Host Game Night

My friends and I are what I like to lovingly refer to as “game geeks”. Most people I know around my age spend their weekends out and about at different social events at bars or other events where over-priced food and liquor is the main attraction. My friends and I look forward to our weekends spent together just hanging out at one of our houses and playing games. Card games, video games, board games, drinking games… you name it, we’ve played it.

Over the years we’ve played many different games. We’re always willing to try something new, but there’s a handful of games we always go back to, and that’s what I’m dedicating this blog post too, because I want to share my love of these games with all of you!

There’s a certain feeling of pride I get when I find a new game our group hasn’t tried before that we end up LOVING. You can be that person too!

Monikers

This game is one of my FAVORITE games of all time. Monikers is great for large groups and you can play it with pretty much anyone even if you don’t know them all very well. 

In the first round, you can say anything you want. In the second, you can only use one word. And in the third, you can’t say anything at all — just charades. The same cards are used in each round, so by the end of the game, you’ve made up a bunch of hilarious jokes together.

I’d rate the context of the cards as PG-13, but there are definitely some more “adult” cards. Nothing like Cards Against Humanity though.

What’s great is that they also have expansions, so if you’ve exhausted the first game, you can buy new cards to help spice things up! My crew plays Monikers ALL the time, and we have developed countless inside jokes because of it. I was so excited when I found out about the expansion packs because we had pretty much memorized all of the base cards.

Cinelinx

This is a card game for people who love movies… Cinelinx is a new take on movie trivia!

Each card has an actor, movie, genre, quote, or character and players take turns finding connections between them. It’s like dominoes for movie buffs! With a dynamic play area based on every card played, the game constantly adapts itself to the players and their level of film knowledge. Now you finally have an outlet for that wealth of movie trivia building up in your brain!

Another game that’s a lot of fun, but you have to be prepared to really think! I’m not the greatest at remembering movie details and actor names, but I still enjoy playing this with my friends. It’s pretty cool to see how much Hollywood stars and films are connected.

What Do You Meme?

This is a hilarious adult party game that will have you laughing at memes you and your friends create.

The rules are simple. Compete to create the funniest meme by pairing Caption Cards with the Photo Card in play. A rotating judge picks the best combination each round.

The photos they selected as well as the text cards they came up with this are so funny. There are endless funny combinations that will have you and your crew laughing for hours.

Catch Phrase

Two teams compete in a head-to-head “hot potato” competition which will have you on the edge of your seat trying to beat the buzzer. 

The Catch Phrase game is an electronic game with 5,000 words and phrases that’s fun and challenging for family and friends to play. Try to get teammates to guess the word or phrase that appears on the screen by describing it any way possible — but do it fast!

There are multiple versions of this game all with different themes. We own four of them: Classic, Decades, Star Wars, and Uncensored. 

DISCLAIMER: If you live in an apartment have thin walls and cranky neighbors, this may not be the best game because you and your friends will get LOUD. Thankfully our neighbors are pretty chill. We’ve played this late into the night without a complaint, but I’m definitely trying to quiet my friends down throughout the game.

The Voting Game

The Voting Game is a party game that uncovers the hilarious truth behind your friendships.

Draw a card or make up your own and read it out loud; Anonymously choose which player is the answer to the question; Laugh as you discover who your friends really are!

You will really get to know your friends playing this game, and more importantly, you will get to know what your friends think about YOU. The Voting Game has TONS of re-play value and you can play it with up to 8 people.
